Vitória hosts the Marien Calixte Jazz Music Festival 2022

The Festival will take place on March 18 and 19 at Parque Pedra da Cebola The Marien Calixte Jazz Music Festival, the only exclusive instrumental music festival in Espírito Santo, will be held on March 18 and 19 at Parque Pedra da Cebola, one of the most beautiful environmental spaces on the island of Vitória. It is organized by MM Projetos Culturais, sponsored by the Instituto Cultural Vale through the Federal Cultural Incentive Law, and supported by the Secretary of Culture of Espírito Santo and the City Hall of Vitória. The festival is free and will have a limited audience as a precaution against crowding. Pandemic prevention measures will comply with current legislation, and all communications regarding this will be made through the event's social media. Additionally, two free masterclasses will be held during the event weekend. The first will be with producer and guitarist Torcuato Mariano, and the second with producer and saxophonist Esdras Nogueira. Registration will open in early March, and spots are limited. The Marien Calixte Jazz Music Festival will also promote environmental awareness actions in collaboration with the environmental secretary of Vitória and will accept donations of food for cats and dogs. The main program will be broadcast live on YouTube, and the festival's curatorship, led by organizers Simone Marçal and Daniel Morelo, aimed to blend different generations of artists with distinct musical backgrounds. This edition of the festival will feature Amaro Freitas Trio, Torcuato Mariano Quarteto, Esdras Nogueira e Grupo, Camerata Jovem Vale Música invites Ricardo Herz and Pedro Ito, Thaysa Pizzolato, Chico Chagas, Malê Dixieland, the children's educational concert Musical Adventures of Pedro de Alcântara, and the duo Madela from Chile. The Marien Calixte Jazz Music Festival arrives in its 2022 edition with a focus on the new values of Brazilian and capixaba instrumental music, inspired by the jazz spirit of Marien Calixte, a journalist, painter, music critic, radio host who loved jazz, and maintainer of the longest-running jazz radio program in the world - “O Som do Jazz,” for 53 uninterrupted years in Espírito Santo.
