Excessive use of cell phones can greatly harm your health. According to experts, when the time spent in the virtual world is excessive, the chances of becoming anxious, agitated, and stressed increase. As a result, cortisol levels rise and our brain turns to calorie-dense, low-nutrient food to compensate for negative emotions.
“It’s a cycle that keeps repeating. People are consuming a lot of virtual content without criteria for time use. They trade hours that could be invested in physical activity and preparing a meal, for example, to lie down and eat fast food. One day, this will catch up with the body,” pointed out endocrinologist and post-graduate in Sports Medicine, Gisele Lorenzoni.
Data from the Center for Internet and Technology Addiction shows that 12% of Americans are already addicted to their cell phones. “It’s a behavior that has led to a very serious health problem,” endorsed the doctor.
