A Future of Opportunities with Bilingual Education

Currently, bilingual education has become an essential differentiator for the academic and professional development of children. Studies show that learning a second language from an early age has positive impacts on cognitive development, stimulating skills such as memory, creativity, and problem-solving. For example, in some private schools in São Paulo, the percentage of students approved at universities abroad reached 40% in 2024.

At Maple Bear, a school that follows the Canadian teaching model, immersion in English happens naturally from kindergarten, preparing students for a globalized future. Here, the units in Vitória and Vila Velha cater to this audience as well as elementary education.

According to the director of Maple Bear Vitória, Bethânia Barcelos Lorençon, bilingual children find it easier to learn new languages in the future and develop greater cognitive flexibility. “This type of education also helps improve logical reasoning and problem-solving skills, which are fundamental for the job market in the future,” she says.

Meanwhile, the director of Maple Bear Vila Velha, Juliana Camargo, explains that another teaching method of the institution uses approaches that explore themes in a practical and creative way. 'A science class is experienced through real examples before the student receives the theoretical example, making the learning process better assimilated,' she says. “An example of this is the lesson on density, where three-year-old students experiment with how different liquids do not mix; they play and observe before having the theoretical lesson,” she adds.

This method encourages student autonomy, allowing them to explore themes in a practical and creative manner. Additionally, the experience-focused teaching provides a deeper understanding of the content, making learning more meaningful and effective.

Moreover, Maple Bear uses technology as an ally in education, preparing students to deal with a digitalized world. “We offer the development of soft skills, such as leadership, collaboration, and critical thinking, which are essential for personal and professional success, and we also involve parents in the learning process,” explains Bethânia.

We encourage this partnership and provide tips for parents to reinforce English at home, creating a continuous learning environment. The Canadian culture, which values diversity and inclusion, also plays an important role in shaping students, promoting essential values for life in society,” adds Juliana.

An example of a student from the Vila Velha institution is Marcelo Drumond Lemos David Soares Gomes, who at just 9 years old participates in various math competitions. He achieved a remarkable feat at the Copernicus Math Global Round, held in New York City in February 2025, qualifying for the global stage for the second consecutive year and was also selected to represent Brazil in two other international competitions last year: the Vanda Science Global Finals in Turkey and the Copernicus Natural Science Global Round in Houston. This year, he has already received three awards, a gold medal at the National Math Tournament (TNM) and two merit awards at the Literature Olympiad - OL /Jan./2025.
