Ozone therapy shows effective results in treating burns, injuries, and wounds
Have you heard that ozone helps reduce the healing time of wounds? Ozone is a natural antibiotic with high bactericidal power. Through ozone therapy, it acts on combating microorganisms with the oxidation action of biological material.
There are several ways to perform ozone therapy, applying the gas directly to the skin if the intention is to treat a wound, intravenously, or intramuscularly. "Ozone therapy brings effective results in the treatment of wounds, injuries, burns, and even in pre-diabetics, as it has antimicrobial effects," explains the biomedical professional from Paula Breder Integrated Health space, Juliana Pedrosa Sarmento.
Studies reveal that in cases indicated for amputation, ozone has proven to be an efficient and safe therapy, providing the patient with improvement in clinical condition and quality of life.
The treatment stimulates the growth of new blood vessels in the area, which accelerates tissue restoration and wound healing. "The supply of nutrients to the tissue generated by ozone enhances the immune system, contributing to cellular multiplication and controlled microbial load, making healing occur more quickly," ponders the biomedical professional from PB Integrated Health space, Juliana Pedrosa Sarmento.
The results of healing can be seen in a short time. "In about three months, it is possible to achieve total recovery, while conventional treatments take from eight months to two years," says the biomedical professional.
The method is contraindicated in cases of pregnancy and patients with acute myocardial infarction, uncontrolled hyperthyroidism, alcohol intoxication, or coagulation problems.
