The long-dreamed fountain of youth has become increasingly real. With the advancement of technology in medical treatments, prevention is now on the rise. The 'curative' approach is more focused on what prevents.
According to Dr. Renata Melo, regenerative therapies are being widely used to treat the skin and the results have been pleasing. "The technologies that stimulate collagen are by far the most used, in addition to those with hyaluronic acid," says the doctor.
She explains that collagen is a protein produced by our body that acts as a builder of tissues and fibers, and after the age of 30, it begins to decrease in the body. Hyaluronic acid, on the other hand, is a molecule produced by our body that keeps cells hydrated and helps in the support and filling of tissue.
Among the new developments, Renata highlights a new dual-action dermal filler based on Polycaprolactone. "It is indicated for use on the face, aiming for a lasting correction of wrinkles and signs of aging," she says. Renata emphasizes that it has the effect of both a biostimulator and a filler in one product, meaning it stimulates collagen production in the skin while simultaneously filling expression lines and wrinkles.
PDRN is another sensation in rejuvenating treatments: it uses salmon DNA, which contains hyaluronic acid and promotes improvement of fine wrinkles and hydrates the skin. "The substance comes from salmon DNA, with regenerative activity that remodels cells; and niacinamide, which acts as a powerful brightening and lightening agent," explains Renata.
