On April 20th, a case of dissatisfaction with a procedure caught attention on social media. Influencer Jéssica Frozza posted a photo stating that after two years of having a bichectomy, she feels her face has become saggy and 'dropped'. According to plastic surgeon and full member of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery (SBPC), Humberto Pinto, people are rushing into this surgery and are undergoing it at younger ages and without necessity. "Bichectomy is the removal of the Bichat balls (a mass of fatty tissue located in the cheeks that supports the medium structures of the facial tissue)," he explains. "Initially, the effect is immediate; however, over time, it leads to sagging of the tissue below the eyes, as if the face 'slips'. Bichectomy is indicated for people who bite their cheeks from the inside, among others, but it is mistakenly being indicated for aesthetic purposes," the doctor emphasizes.
