According to a publication on the Vogue website from January 23, on the haute couture runways this season, the natural texture of hair was the most prominent. Instead of the dictatorship of straight hair, there were curls, cornrows, 'afro', and wavy styles. The natural texture of hair came along with another strong trend: loose hair, with simple hairstyles. In a backstage interview, hair stylist Sam Macnight, who styled hair for various shows, including Chanel, stated that "the haute couture hair today is light, fresh, simple, and cool, declaring for now the elaborate hairstyles of party looks."
According to natural hair therapist Paula Breder, we are entering the natural era. "The trend of curls is on the rise, after all, most Brazilian women have hair like this. We are moving towards a future where the market has to adapt to the profile of consumers, and I am very happy that we are experiencing a moment of engagement in fashion," says natural hair therapist Paula Breder.
Paula celebrates the revival of the natural, especially in the universe she works in, hair beauty. "I am very happy to work and encourage women to embrace their curls and the naturalness of their hair; I preach this a lot in my salons, and we work with totally natural products created by me that help not only in treating the hair but also in the self-esteem of many women," she points out.
Research
According to data from Kantar World Panel from December 2019, 53% of Brazilian women are guided by the search for the natural when it comes to self-care. "Sustainable, natural products with little chemistry are growing among professionals and consumers, and it is a trend of the circular economy that is only expected to grow," says Paula Breder.
