The character Rachel from the remake of 'Vale Tudo', played by Taís Araújo, underwent a transformation in the new phase of the soap opera, and in one of the scenes, she removed a tattoo with her daughter's name, now her tormentor, Maria de Fátima, played by Bella Campos. According to Dr. Renata Melo, the demand for tattoo removal has been increasing. "From names of ex-relationships to designs that have lost their meaning over time, the most common requests involve tattoos located on the neck, arms, and chest — areas that are quite visible and often lead to regrets," she explains. According to her, the Picosecond laser is the safest and most effective method for complete removal. "The laser light identifies the pigment in the skin and targets only it, without damaging the surrounding areas. The process breaks down the ink molecules, which are absorbed by the body over sessions," she explains. The sessions are personalized and vary according to the size, type, and color of the tattoo. Dark tones like black and blue respond better to treatment, while lighter colors like yellow and green require more time. "This happens because the wavelength used to remove the pigments needs to be carefully adjusted to preserve the health of the skin," she points out. During the process, the patient must follow specific guidelines, such as using healing ointments. Besides the physical aspect, the emotional impact is significant. "The person arrives determined, and when they see the result, they feel that a cycle has been closed. It is a fulfilled desire that improves self-esteem and well-being," affirms Renata. For dermatologist Karina Mazzini, the difference with picosecond laser removal is the speed. "Previously, tattoo removal was a lengthy and often painful process. Now, with this advanced technology, we are seeing remarkable results in a much shorter time frame," says Karina. Although the picosecond laser is faster than others, Karina explains that the number of sessions varies in each case, "some pigments are more complex than others, especially colored tattoos, so it can vary quite a bit." The dermatologist adds, emphasizing that despite the technologies being very efficient, it is important to think carefully before getting a tattoo to avoid future regrets.
