Do you constantly feel pain in your back, lower back, or head? Then know that these symptoms may be related to a misalignment in the joints of the spine, when one or more vertebrae are out of their normal position and end up exerting pressure on the spinal nerves.

The pain caused by vertebral subluxation is usually acquired in daily life, due to poor posture while sleeping, at work, during exercise, and it ends up harming the quality of life of those who get used to living with this discomfort.

However, feeling pain is not normal, and spinal misalignment can cause irritation in the nervous system and affect the functioning of structures, organs, and functions of the body. Physiotherapist Victor Stefanon e Sousa, owner of the Biomoviment studio, explains that chiropractic is an effective technique for restoring the biomechanical properties of the spine using manual and mechanical adjustment techniques.

Developed in 1895 by Canadian Daniel David Palmer, chiropractic is effective in promoting joint adjustment and resolving issues such as headaches, neck tension, torticollis, shoulder pain, back pain, arthritis, herniated discs, fibromyalgia, bone spurs, among others.

With the spine functioning properly, the body regains its ability to regenerate and self-heal, which is why it is very common for high-performance athletes to undergo chiropractic treatment regularly. “Chiropractic helps in the recovery of some injuries without the use of medication and also acts in the prevention of these injuries, improving sports performance,” says Victor.

Physiotherapist Victor Stefanon emphasizes that unlike other methods, chiropractic does not just treat symptoms. It seeks the cause of the pain through the assessment of the biomechanical functioning of various structures in the body.

The poor functioning of the spine causes an imbalance in the body that can manifest in different ways. “One thing I always analyze is the patients' feet. Many come in with one leg shorter than the other, and chiropractic promotes this adjustment,” reinforces Victor, who warns: “Currently, in Brazil, the physiotherapist is the only professional legally allowed to practice chiropractic.”
