During this quarantine period, many women decided to embrace their curls and put aside straightening tools, including celebrities like Juliana Paes and Ariana Grande. In fact, actress Juliana Paes shared on social media that she has never stopped wearing her curls, but she also has never managed to showcase her natural hair in a soap opera.
According to natural hair therapist Paula Breder, this is the best time to invest in hair care. “For those with natural hair, it’s worth investing in products to hydrate, enhance the curls, and add volume and shine,” assures Paula, who offers various options in this segment. “I hope more people embrace their curls and their self-esteem during this reflective moment, as has already been happening,” Paula concludes.
Another tip Paula recommends is that during the Coronavirus pandemic, in addition to hand hygiene, we must not forget about our hair: “The ideal is that if a person needs to leave home, whether to go to the supermarket or pharmacy, or even those who need to work – they should opt for tying their hair back – if it’s long – and wash it as soon as they get home,” she explains. “We always recommend washing hair three times a week, but in this specific case, it’s better to be cautious and keep it clean at all times,” she assures.

Natural hair therapist Paula Breder is the creator of the philosophy and products that bear her name. As the mentor of the first naturalist space in the state, a woman of color, Paula straightened her hair - as most black women did - with all the options available on the market, until after 25 years, she decided to discover the true texture of her hair. After much study, she became self-taught in phytotherapy and created beauty products for hair, such as shampoos, hair masks, gels, serums, sanitizers, among others. Through this work, she began to influence other women through her own stance. Today, she runs Paula Breder Fitocosméticos in Brazil, and her philosophy is spread throughout the country, with two locations in Greater Vitória, one in Vitória and another in Vila Velha.
