Pumpkin Ales are beers that contain pumpkin in their composition. The style was created in the United States around 1801, using the fruit as an alternative source of sugar for fermentation due to the malt shortage in the region, according to data from the Clube do Malte website.
With the use of pumpkin in the recipe, it was soon linked to the celebration of Halloween, the famous Halloween in America, on October 31.
Convento Cervejaria – a traditional craft beer brewery from Espírito Santo – produces its Pumpkin Ale for Halloween, strictly following the American recipe. "Pumpkin combined with cloves, cinnamon, and ginger are the main ingredients of the beer," says one of the brewery's partners, Léo Leal. "It has a distinctive flavor, low alcohol content, and the unique sweetness of pumpkin, which has been well received by craft beer enthusiasts," highlights Leal.
The businessman emphasizes that the beer is already on the brewery's menu at this time of year: "Customers are already reaching out to taste the combination and to stock up for the themed parties that take place at the end of October," says Leal.
The commemorative edition will be available for sale starting October 20, and to purchase it, simply visit the brand's sales website at https://deliverydireto.com.br/conventocervejaria/, or download the app on the Play Store and also at some partner sales points.
