Hyaluronic acid filler has established itself as one of the most sought-after procedures when it comes to facial rejuvenation — and, more recently, this technique has also gained prominence in the intimate area. But after all, is intimate filler done the same way as facial filler?
According to gynecologist and sexologist Dr. Lorena Baldotto, fillers serve to restore volume and improve the appearance of various body areas, and can be applied both on the face and in areas such as the vaginal labia majora — and even in the buttocks, which has become one of the new "darlings" for this type of procedure.
The doctor explains that there are different types of fillers, with varying densities, and each is indicated for a specific purpose. "Denser products are used in areas that need structuring, such as the jawline or the cheek area. For the buttocks, I prefer an intermediate density: it can't be too heavy to avoid sagging, but it needs to have good durability. For the intimate area, specifically the labia majora, I use a hyaluronic acid of a density similar to that used in facial lips," she comments.
The choice of the ideal product — which varies according to density, composition, and brand — directly influences the results and the durability of the procedure. Denser fillers tend to have a longer absorption time by the body, which prolongs the effect of the treatment.
The intimate procedure is simple, safe, and performed in the office. "I apply local anesthesia with just a small puncture on each side and, with the help of a microcannula, I inject the hyaluronic acid directly into the labia majora. I usually use between 3 to 6 syringes, depending on the anatomy and needs of each patient. The result is immediate: the area gains volume, the labia minora are better protected, and the overall appearance is rejuvenated," explains Dr. Lorena.
In addition to the filler, it is possible to combine the treatment with other technologies, such as collagen biostimulators and lasers, to enhance the results and stimulate the natural production of collagen in the skin.
