The shared office market is already a reality in Brazil. In just the last three years, the sector has grown by 500% in the country, according to the Coworking Census Brazil, conducted by the website Coworkingbrasil.org. Vitória ranks 15th in the ranking of cities with the most shared offices. Keeping an eye on the trend and considering convenience and mobility, construction companies are investing in spaces like this for their residential developments.
In Jardim da Penha, the new development by Mivita Construtora, "Inside Jardim da Penha," features a coworking space with USB outlets, Wi-Fi, television, coffee maker, air conditioning, glass partitions, desks with chairs, and a meeting room with a table and chairs. The location was designed to ensure comfort for residents who want to work or study without leaving home. They simply take the elevator down and find a more suitable structure to carry out their work. They can leave the office to have lunch at home and return to work in just a few minutes.
"In addition to bringing quality of life to the resident, who doesn't have to face traffic or spend hours commuting to work, the initiative brings a cost reduction for professionals who don't need to rent an office. It is an evolution of the home office," highlights engineer and one of the partners of Mivita, André Pretti.
A survey conducted by a global consultancy with 680 Brazilian companies reveals that 35% of them already offer a home office option on some days of the week. And the number is expected to grow in the coming years. However, working from home, while beneficial, requires discipline. There are many distractions that can hinder productivity, which is why having a space designed specifically for work is important.
"There are many considerations to create a pleasant environment. Our shared office has partitions on the desks for the professionals' privacy, adequate lighting, and furniture with ideal ergonomics for those who will spend hours sitting, for example," explains Thiago Sartoli, engineer and also a partner at Mivita.
Intelligent developments with shared services, such as coworking and bike sharing, another convenience offered by "Inside Jardim da Penha," are likely to increase, following this behavioral change that is affecting other sectors. "It is the construction industry advancing alongside the needs of society, increasingly attuned to environmental issues and concerned with the future of urban mobility and the well-being of all," concludes Thiago.
