In 2022, “Portas” opens for Marisa Monte's fans. In Vitória, it is the Patrick Ribeiro Space that opens its doors for the carioca who has been enchanting Brazil for over thirty years. In addition to songs from the new album, the repertoire of the new tour highlights important moments in the singer and songwriter's career.
With direction and visual conception by Marisa Monte, Cláudio Torres, and Batman Zavareze, on stage Marisa is accompanied by Dadi (bass, keyboard, and guitar), Davi Moraes (guitars), Pupillo (drums), Pretinho da Serrinha (percussion, cavaquinho, and vocals), Chico Brown (keyboard, guitar, bass, and vocals), Antonio Neves (trombone, adaptations, and brass arrangements), Eduardo Santanna (trumpet and flugelhorn), and Lessa (flute and sax).
“At the beginning of 2020, my plan was to go into the studio in May. I already had a repertoire ready, produced over the last few years with various partners, waiting for the right time to record. But in March, the doors closed, and it became impossible to follow through with the plans,” says Marisa about the new work, which started during the pandemic.
“Like everyone else, we entered an inevitable pause of a thousand beats. It took a few months for us to better understand the new reality filled with sanitary protocols, tests, and masks,” she adds. The production of the album “Portas,” which gives its name to the tour, involved in-person recordings along with remote ones.
“It was a great challenge to reinvent production methods and open new paths and experiment at such a tough time filled with uncertainties, but we faced the difficulties with creativity and the necessary care,” the artist celebrates.
Now, Marisa Monte finally reunites with her audience. “I started my life in music at 19 and have never gone so long without singing live and meeting my audience,” she said about the joy of traveling with the “Portas” tour.
