After undergoing a facial rejuvenation procedure, it is natural to feel dissatisfied with the aged appearance of the skin on the neck and décolletage. It is at this moment that many people return to the dermatologist with the aim of reversing the signs of wrinkles, grooves, sagging, and spots, and eliminating the contrast with the previously treated face.

"Generally, the first signs of aging on the neck begin to appear from the age of 40, but it is best to prevent the loss of vitality and the emergence of expression lines early on,” explains dermatologist Karina Mazzini.

According to her, the ideal is to consult a dermatologist, who can evaluate and prescribe topical formulations with anti-aging and brightening effects for patients who wish to prevent aging.

"The skin on the neck requires daily care, such as cleansing, sun protection, hydration, and anti-aging creams,” says the doctor. These creams may contain acids (such as retinoic and glycolic), antioxidants (such as vitamin C and vitamin E), peptides, collagen stimulators, and powerful moisturizers (such as hyaluronic acid).

In addition to home care prevention, there are various treatments that can rejuvenate the neck and décolletage of those who already suffer from the problem. There are treatments that use technology and those that use injectables.

When we talk about treatments using technology, microfocused ultrasound is one of Karina's recommendations, as it not only combats sagging but also stimulates collagen production. “Ultrasound also treats the double chin, which is a very common complaint,” says the doctor.

For spots, the most indicated treatments are laser therapies, such as intense pulsed light, CO2 laser, and Erbium laser.

In addition to technologies, there are injectable treatments for the neck area. Among them, collagen biostimulators, fillers, and botulinum toxin stand out. “Another possibility is to combine injectables with a treatment using technology,” suggests Karina.
