New National Curriculum Guidelines (DCNs) for the bachelor's degree in Administration have been approved by the committee of the National Education Council of the Ministry of Education (CNE/MEC). Educational institutions have a deadline of up to three years to adapt to the new rules that include, for example, the development of a new methodology to enhance student learning.

The changes were requested in July of this year and are already contextualized with the post-pandemic period. The main change is to prioritize that students are evaluated on their personal, emotional, and technological competencies. “It will no longer be sufficient to memorize content and pass an evaluation. The student must develop competencies inherent to being that make them an excellent professional,” explained the president of the Regional Council of Administration of Espírito Santo (CRA-ES), Adm. Maurílio José Inês.

The new approach to the training of Administration professionals is expected to directly impact the job market. The president of the Federal Council of Administration (CFA), Mauro Kreuz, explained that professionals in the field trained in Brazil have frustrated employers. With the new guidelines, the expectation is to help courses evolve in the quality of training for graduates. “I hope that these DCNs will be drivers for the Administration courses to effectively deliver to society and the productive sector professionals with more solid professional competencies in Administration,” he said.

Faculty

All this transformation in the learning method will require a significant update from the faculty. The text of the document states that the goal is to change the relationship between teacher and student as we know it today. “The result is an education aimed at pleasing the client, avoiding conflicts, and not charging the student. A true distortion of the relationship between students and teachers, and between society and the educational institution.”

In this sense, the change proposed by the National Curriculum Guideline (DCN) aims to alter “the structure of classes, which usually place the student in a very passive situation when it is being taught. This generates frustrations for teachers and students, as students quickly become inattentive and teachers feel demotivated to demand during class. Even recommending prior readings and access to other audiovisual materials, there is low engagement during the class.”

Mandatory Internship?

It has been determined that “mandatory supervised practical activities, which must be consistent with the training requirements and the development of competencies, are governed by their own regulations,” states Article 4, Chapter V of the document. For this, the CFA/CRAs System must prepare material to guide educational institutions and help them readjust.

Event at CRA to Discuss the Topic

Students and professionals in Administration from Espírito Santo will have the opportunity to learn more about the National Curriculum Guidelines (DCNs). The president of CRA, Adm. Mauro Kreutz; and the president of the Union of Private Educational Institutions in Espírito Santo (Sinepe-ES), Moacir Lellis, will lead a Webinar on the topic “New Curriculum Guidelines for the Administration Course.” It will take place this Thursday (17th), at 3 PM, on YouTube. Participation is free, and registrations can be made through the website craes.org.br/adm2020
