Innovation for the pharmaceutical market
The pharmaceutical market has increased significantly in Brazil, and one of the reasons was the Covid-19 pandemic. However, another factor - before the virus emerged - was already a reason for the growth of pharmacies across the country: the aging population or the increase in life expectancy. According to data from IBGE, in 2018 Brazil had about 30 million elderly people (60+). By 2060, it is expected that they will make up ¼ of the population. Thus, the pharmaceutical market is only expected to grow, as the elderly population tends to develop diseases and consume more medications and also supplements to maintain their health.
Keeping an eye on this market, Farmacro, founded in 2014 - which acts as a brand and service manager for licensed pharmacies across the country, created the app Comparte Farma - which connects local pharmacies and entire chains throughout the country (with over 350 units), that utilize the benefits of the 'Modelo Comparte' to serve the national pharma market. "We offer flexibility that pharmacies and drugstores do not find in traditional franchise and association models," guarantees the group's CEO, Aníbal Neri.
The dilemma for pharmacies is that in current franchise models, a large investment is required, both in products and in rental or construction and location. Farmacro is able to promote negotiation with the industry and suppliers in the pharmaceutical sector.
Everything was created for pharmacies to grow and be competitive, and they have total freedom in managing their store. "It is possible to join one of our brands or continue using the existing one, without bureaucracy and fees, and the ease of being able to choose what you want, such as the product or service that Farmacro offers," points out Neri.
"We enable commercial advantages for retailers, and also other benefits such as cashback on purchases, management support services, online consulting, legal advice, regulatory advice, marketing and pharmaceutical consulting, and PBMs (Pharmaceutical Benefit Programs), all through the exclusive app," explains Neri.
According to the businessman, our model is disruptive and innovative. "We shorten the path between the store and the supplier and present something new to the market, as evidenced by the growth of the network and its reach in most cities in Brazil, in addition to the well-known brands we offer to pharmacies, such as: EMS, Medley, Neoquimica, Achê, Biossintética, Teuto, Prati-Donaduzzi, Eurofarma, Cimed, Sanofi, Pfizer, Astrazeneca, and Bayer, and we also have exclusive products," he highlights.
