According to data from IBGE, divorces in the country decreased by 13.6% in 2020 compared to the previous year; however, it was found that almost half of the 331.2 thousand divorces that occurred were among couples who had been together for less than ten years.
In light of this data, it is clear that the institution of 'marriage' has been losing strength among current couples. What could be the reasons? For integrative therapist Isabela Barcelos - a specialist in the matrimonial field - we can consider cultural issues, modernity, and the new century we are living in where values differ from those of the past. "Marriage continues to be a union between two people where there is love, complicity, and a desire to share a life together, but people no longer do this out of obligation, due to social issues, etc.," says Isabela.
Noticing the matrimonial universe and the anxiety experienced by some brides, Isabela created a project where she assists various women who are living this role and feel insecure, Acolher Noivas. "I have always observed that the brides I attended presented a significant level of anxiety and insecurity, fear of failing in organizing the ceremony, conflicts, and lack of alignment with the groom or family, insecurity with wedding details," explains the specialist.
The specialist also observed that problems in engagement reflected on mental and physical health. "I realized that what was experienced during the engagement manifested in the body, leading to weight gain, skin allergies, migraines, insomnia, libido issues, digestive problems, among others, all within the matrimonial process," points out the therapist.
Isabela specialized in this area and today assists various brides and helps on the big day. "I offer support to align confidence and balance to achieve the purpose of a perfect and serene marriage, as the great moment of the couple's life," she states.
With Acolher Noivas, the integrative therapist created a project that looks at the person as a whole, physically, spiritually, in the pursuit of self-knowledge. "I work on meditation, the investigation of the unconscious, all the afflictions to work on the awakening to feel good in the situation of marriage," she explains. Isabela shares that the work is so effective that there are brides who continue the follow-up after they are married.
