In search of health and well-being, many people follow tips that they sometimes believe are correct, but which are not approved by doctors or do not follow their guidelines. Research conducted in the United States shows that several rules related to food are, in fact, myths and should be ignored.   Among the myths we can highlight is about frozen and canned foods. “Canned, frozen, or dried food can be just as nutritious as fresh! Of course, fresh fruits and vegetables are healthy, but a study by the U.S. Department of Agriculture found that frozen, canned, and dried fruits and vegetables can be just as nutritious as their fresh counterparts,” explained endocrinologist Gisele Lorenzoni.   Another myth is about Type 2 Diabetes, where people with the disease are advised not to eat fruits. “In fact, a study conducted in San Francisco showed that people who consume one serving of whole fruits per day have a lower risk of developing the disease,” she reported.   When we talk about fat, we immediately think of overweight and vascular problems, right? And here’s another myth because not all fats are bad. “Trans and saturated fats are harmful in excess and can pose a risk for heart disease, stroke, etc. Healthy fats – such as those found in foods like fish, flaxseed, nuts, seeds, olive oil, and vegetable oils – are important sources of energy, in addition to producing energy for the body, aiding in cellular function and hormone production,” the doctor explained.
