Technological advancements are revolutionizing the way aesthetic procedures are planned and performed in Brazil, which is the second country in the world with the highest number of plastic surgeries, behind only the United States, according to data from the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). The combination of augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and 3D modeling has provided a safer, more interactive, and personalized experience for patients.

“Until a few years ago, the only reference patients had were photos of other people, drawings, or a verbal explanation of what could be done. It was like trying to imagine the future based on others' examples,” says plastic surgeon Humberto Pinto, who closely follows technological innovations.

“Today, with 3D simulation software and augmented reality, patients can see their own face or body with the suggested modifications before even entering the surgical center. This changes everything,” says the doctor.

Among some of the technologies that are allies to the procedures, the plastic surgeon mentions several used in various surgeries, including liposuction. “We have One Step Laser, BodyTite, Renuvion, and Argoplasma,” which I use in conjunction with procedures.

One Step Laser: a fractional laser technology that treats sagging, wrinkles, and spots in a single session, promoting rejuvenation with faster recovery.

BodyTite: uses radiofrequency to melt fat and tighten the skin at the same time, ideal for body contouring with less sagging.

Renuvion: combines plasma energy with radiofrequency to precisely and safely contract the skin, widely used in areas such as the abdomen and arms.

Argoplasma: also uses argon plasma to stimulate collagen and improve skin firmness, indicated for facial and body rejuvenation.

According to the doctor, it is essential to remember that technology is an ally, but it does not replace the experience and clinical eye of the surgeon. “Anatomy and the response of each organism are still determining factors,” he explains.
