Urinary incontinence, characterized by the involuntary loss of urine, affects millions of people, impacting their quality of life. The numbers confirm this reality: there are 10 million people across the country, with 45% being women and 15% men over 40 years old, according to data from the Brazilian Society of Urology (SBU). According to Dr. Renata Melo, women are more affected due to pregnancy and hormonal changes, where the muscles in the intimate area lose strength. "The good news is that medicine has evolved and offers minimally invasive solutions for the treatment of urinary incontinence," she states. She mentions that intimate laser treatment is indicated. "It stimulates the regeneration of vaginal tissue and strengthens the pelvic muscles, in addition to stimulating collagen in the area," she explains. The procedure is quick and painless. "Many patients report significant improvement already in the first sessions, as well as additional benefits, such as increased vaginal lubrication and improved sensitivity in the area," says Dr. Renata. Despite the high incidence of urinary incontinence, many women still hesitate to seek help, whether due to shame or believing that there is no solution. "The most important thing is to understand that this problem has treatment. Seeking medical guidance is the first step to regain self-esteem and quality of life," emphasizes the doctor.
