In a weekend marked by twists and mechanical overcoming, the pilot from Espírito Santo, Hugo Cibien, completed the sixth stage of the 2026 Copa Truck, held on August 22 and 23 at the Ayrton Senna International Autodrome in Londrina (PR). Even after spinning out at the beginning of the race and suffering from a loss of engine performance caused by a rear-end collision, the representative of Vannucci Racing climbed ten positions and crossed the finish line in eighth place in Race 2.
Racing on the 3,146-meter track that serves as the operational base for his team, Cibien started the round with a competitive pace in the free practices but faced difficulties in the qualifying session, securing the ninth spot on the starting grid. The Paraná circuit, known for its technical demands with braking transitions at nearly 200 km/h, posed challenges right from the first meters of the main race.
"The weekend started well; we were always among the front runners. But in qualifying, a mistake compromised the truck's performance early on and left us further back, making us start in 9th place," assessed Hugo Cibien.
The situation for the pilot from Espírito Santo complicated early on when he was hit from behind and ended up spinning. "I was stuck in a dangerous spot on the track and could only return after the entire pack passed, which meant, at that moment, the 18th position. The impact affected the truck's exhaust system, causing the engine to lose power. After safety car entries and restarts, the best result we managed was to finish in 8th place in Race 2," added the pilot sponsored by Grupo Vannucci, Riosulense, Worldparts, UrbanVix Urbanizadora, Evamo, and also through the Capixaba Sports Incentive Law (LIEC) by the Locatelli supermarket chain.
Despite the unforeseen events and the natural physical wear of the Paraná track, exacerbated by his ongoing recovery from arm surgery after the Interlagos accident, Cibien managed to minimize the damage over the weekend. The team's focus is now on preparing for the seventh stage of the Copa Truck, scheduled for September 20 at the Circuito dos Cristais in Curvelo (MG).
