With the end of Carnival, the Lent period begins, during which some Christians restrict their eating habits for 40 days and refrain from eating red meat, opting for dishes that contain fish and eggs. Some abstain from red meat throughout the entire period, while others choose one day of the week, such as Friday, to make the switch. Entrepreneur Celio Vilela – one of the partners of the restaurant Coco Bambu Vila Velha, located in Shopping Praia da Costa, reports that during this period there is a 60% increase in orders for fish and seafood dishes. "We specialize in these delicacies, but we also have options with meat, appetizers, and we clearly notice this increase during Lent," explains Vilela.
For the occasion, the entrepreneur suggests various dishes from the menu, ranging from lighter options to more complete ones, with high-quality ingredients. "We have everything from Bacalhau à Lagareiro, made with the loin of cod baked with eggs, potatoes, pumpkin, olives, served with broccoli rice, to salads like the Salmon Salad, which is made with salmon ceviche, greens, and served in a pizza crust," Vilela reports.
Moquecas are also very popular, and in addition to the capixaba option, the restaurant also serves the cearense version with fish and shrimp. "There are so many options on our fish and seafood menu that Coco Bambu becomes the ideal place for those who want to have a varied Lent," guarantees the entrepreneur.
Lent
The term "Lent" originates from Latin – quadragesimadies (fortieth day) and encompasses the period before Easter – which is celebrated by some churches such as Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and Lutheran.
