Chronic pain control center promotes social actions to alert the population on how to achieve quality of life through interdisciplinary treatment
The second month of the year marks the arrival of the Purple February campaign and awareness for Fibromyalgia, an autoimmune disease, silent in symptoms, in progression, and characterized by chronic pain.
The campaign supported by the Relevium Pain Control Center – a national reference in interdisciplinary approaches for patients suffering from chronic pain – embraces the cause with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of early diagnosis regarding this disorder through social actions (free of charge) on February 11, Saturday, starting at 7:30 AM, at Praia da Guarderia, Enseada do Suá, in Vitória.
The event will include breakfast, a roundtable discussion on nutrition, paddling with instructors from the Va’a Clube team, mindfulness exercises, stretching, functional training, a dance class, and children's programming. Additionally, there will be blood pressure measurements, massages, a beach tennis workshop, and a nutritional space offered by the interdisciplinary team from Relevium, composed of doctors, physiotherapists, nutritionists, psychologists, among other experts in the field. At the end of the social action, doctor and pain specialist André Felix has a surprise moment planned for the audience.
The goal is to raise awareness and clarify the population about chronic pain, especially fibromyalgia, a disease often neglected and with a significant impact on people's quality of life, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary treatment and care for the whole individual, focusing on nutrition, supplementation, physical exercise, and mental health care.
Although it is often said that there is no cure, fibromyalgia is treatable, and doctor André Felix, a chronic pain specialist, points out that the best way to treat this ailment is through interdisciplinary treatment, along with lifestyle changes, good nutrition, and daily physical exercise.
It is estimated that 30% to 40% of the Brazilian population suffers from some type of chronic pain, and awareness regarding fibromyalgia and its associated conditions is essential. According to the specialist, the disease can affect anyone, but it is more common in women aged between 35 and 60 years.
"With the established diagnosis, interdisciplinary treatment is essential, which not only helps in pain control but will also preserve well-being and, consequently, a routine with better quality of life," the specialist reiterates.
