Philemon Rodrigues served two terms for Minas Gerais and one for Paraíba

The former federal deputy Philemon Rodrigues passed away last Saturday (12), at the age of 94. A pastor and theologian, he served in the Chamber of Deputies for two terms representing Minas Gerais in the 1990s and one term for Paraíba in the 2000s.

He initially took office as a substitute federal deputy between 1994 and 1995. Later, he held three full terms, two of them affiliated with the PTB for Minas (between 1995 and 2002) and one with the PL for Paraíba (between 2003 and 2007).

Among the roles he held in the Chamber was the presidency of the Commission on Transportation and Communications in 2004.

Career
Born on June 19, 1932, in Mamanguape (PB), Philemon Rodrigues was a pastor of the Assembly of God and an evangelical missionary in Bolivia (1964-1969) and Spain (1970-1975). In the 1980s, he participated in the construction of the Arca Temple, one of the symbols of the municipality of João Monlevade (MG).

Among the public positions he held were administrative director, deputy secretary, and superintendent of Planning and Budget at the Secretary of Education of Minas Gerais, as well as administrative and financial director at the Technological Center of Minas Gerais (Cetec-MG).
