As all eyes turn to political storms, whether in Brazil with the crisis in the STF amid the electoral dispute, or elsewhere in the world, with the pieces of the geopolitical board being moved unpredictably by Donald Trump, the great storm of climate seems to have caught up with us. According to findings from the recent report by the United Nations Environment Programme, the maximum limit of a 1.5 degree increase in the planet's average temperature, established in the Paris Agreement, will certainly be exceeded this year — the hope is that this mark will be temporary. Beyond that, there is the expectation that a super El Niño will further intensify extreme weather events starting this second half of the year, extending until 2027.
