The space, which was once a temple for sports and musical events, has transformed into the headquarters of a school that brings an international education proposal to Espírito Santo.
With a differentiated methodology and competency-based learning, the American School of Vitória (EAV) inaugurated its new headquarters last Saturday, the 8th. The location of this bold project is the Álvares Cabral Gymnasium, one of the most traditional and recognized spaces in the sports and cultural scenes of Vitória, which underwent extensive renovations to provide all the necessary infrastructure for the new venture. Covering an area of 11,000 square meters, the EAV will offer high-quality international education, with full immersion in the English language. The venture has the Buaiz Group as the majority partner, with entrepreneurs Júnior Cardoso and Luciano Gani as investors. The board of the American School of Vitória is composed of Américo Buaiz Filho (president), Mariana Buaiz (vice president), and Luciano Gani (executive director). The architectural and landscaping project for the gymnasium's adaptation is signed by renowned architect Kennedy Vianna, with an investment of around R$ 20 million. In this first phase, the school will operate with 10 classrooms, serving students from the 1st to the 5th year of Early Childhood and Elementary Education I, in addition to administrative areas and multidisciplinary and recreational spaces. Highlights include a ballet room, library, cafeteria, playground, art studio, among others. In the second phase, new grades for Elementary Education II and High School will be offered, accommodating students older than 11 years. The expansion will begin in 2021. Classes at the new EAV started this Monday, the 10th, with 120 enrolled students and an administrative team and teaching staff made up of 70 collaborators, including Brazilians and foreigners. The operating hours are full-time, from 8 am to 6 pm, with classes from the curriculum running from 8 am to 3:15 pm for Early Childhood students aged 2 to 5 years, and from 8 am to 3:50 pm for Elementary Education I students aged 6 to 10 years. Free time is complemented with monitored cultural and sports activities. Inside the American School of Vitória Founded in 2018, the American School of Vitória (EAV) was previously located in Enseada do Suá, in Vitória. The institution's pedagogical proposal is to provide a school environment where students are encouraged to develop thinking skills for the exercise of their citizenship in a full and conscious manner. Always seeking excellence in education, its founding group opted for a change of address. Now, in Bento Ferreira, the EAV has an even more modern structure committed to training students with human and entrepreneurial potential, capable of competing and gaining admission to any Brazilian university and the best university institutions in the world. Among the highlights of the new campus are the physical structure and the pedagogical proposal. The school features an interactive environment that encourages new discoveries, with a completely innovative teaching approach that places the student as the protagonist of their own learning. At EAV, students will have access to Maker spaces, where they will develop their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, taking charge of their lives by creating and executing solutions. This is an alternative learning environment that provides a playful and authentic approach, while also allowing them to develop, explore, and test new thought structures. The Maker space is in tune with the transformations in the job market, which increasingly demands the training of professionals with autonomy and inventiveness, creating growth opportunities. Among the activities to be conducted at the site are robotics classes taught by engineer and pedagogy graduate Lorena Vieira. During the workshops, children will be able to create objects and see them take shape through 3D printing. The "Learning Commons" was designed to be a collaborative space for knowledge seeking. It features a work area, Wi-Fi for activities and internet browsing, and over four thousand titles in English and Portuguese. Librarian Lahana Cristo is the professional in charge of the space. Another highlight is the Ballet Room. The space will be operated in partnership with Duetto Arte e Movimento and is equipped with appropriate flooring, bars, and mirrors. It also has mats for judo and jiu-jitsu classes. In the cultural area, the EAV has a Music Room equipped with various musical instruments, such as piano, drums, and flute, with singing and instrumental classes taught by the Dinâmica school. Also among the differentiators is the Arts Studio, where students will have all the necessary tools to create and develop artistic skills with clay, painting, crafts, collage, among others. The EAV's curriculum also includes the offering of Olympic sports to encourage physical exercise practices at all ages and stages of education. With the inauguration of the new campus, students will have access to a series of sports activities such as soccer, ballet, judo, jiu-jitsu, tennis, in addition to yoga classes. To complement, children in the early grades also have access to a playground area with equipment provided by Erê Lab, a company that creates and develops play objects for interaction and participation. It is responsible for the first installation of a permanent park in São Paulo, at Largo da Batata, after winning the Batatalab competition. High-Quality Nutrition To ensure a rich and balanced diet, the American School of Vitória (EAV) has hired Sodexo, one of the largest companies in the field in Brazil and worldwide, with over 40 years of expertise in providing catering services for schools and recognized for the quality and use of fresh ingredients. The menu will be defined collaboratively, with the participation of Sodexo professionals, the nutritionist, and school directors, considering the age range of the students.
