From November 8 to 12, the American School of Vitória (EAV) will hold its first "School Olympics". The internal event will feature the participation of students from Elementary School II, from 5th to 8th grade.
Following the tradition of the Olympic Games, which take place every four years, the student tournament includes an opening ceremony, featuring a torch relay and the lighting of the Olympic flame. On this occasion, former athlete Fábio Luiz, who won a Silver medal in Beach Volleyball at the Beijing Olympics (2008), and who is now part of the school's faculty to teach volleyball, will be in charge of this ceremony.
The closing of the competitions, with the awarding of the champion teams, will be highlighted by the presence of athlete Mariana Gesteira Ribeiro, who won a Bronze medal in Swimming at the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021. She will participate in the final ceremony along with her coach Leonardo Miglinas Cunha.
