A study conducted at various North American universities concluded that 65% of heterosexual women do not reach orgasm, and many of them experience pain. What do you think about this? Normal? Part of it? Sometimes it's okay? We spoke with gynecologist and specialist in sexuality and intimate aesthetics, Lorena Baldotto, and she started by saying, “I’ll let you know right away: sex doesn’t go with pain! Sex is pleasure!”
If there is pain, something is wrong that needs to be investigated. And this maxim applies to all women, including those who are just starting their sexual life. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been having sex for a month or a year, if it’s the same partner or if you’ve changed partners, if you have one or more sexual partners, what matters is that it shouldn’t hurt.
“If you feel pain, if you feel discomfort, if there is no pleasure, no orgasm, no desire, or if you do it out of ‘obligation’, I have to warn you that this is not appropriate and it can cause long-term sexual disinterest. This complaint may be common, but it is not normal,” she said.
Contrary to what people say, “Oh, it’s common for it not to be so good for women, that’s just how it is, or at first it hurts but then you get used to it,” if you believe in this limiting belief, please, get rid of it right now! “These thoughts sabotage your pleasure and that of many other women. Women should indeed feel pleasure and desire, because if this doesn’t happen, we gradually lose motivation and sexual interest. And let me tell you a secret: this is much more related to complaints of lack of libido than to a lack of hormones. That’s why I say that often women come here taking various medications for libido, and they stop working because the main cause, which is emotional issues, hasn’t been addressed!”
“Having sex with desire and satisfaction reinforces libido, increases motivation, and brings numerous benefits for health, skin, and releases endorphins that awaken the hormones of pleasure and well-being! Cool, right? Is there anything better than that?!”
If things are not the way you would like, know that there is treatment for this; you don’t have to settle for a mediocre sex life. We must seek the best in all areas of our lives, and this is an important stage of it, right?” Lorena warned.
Lorena said that pain needs to be investigated, as it is a warning sign for some pathology and can also indicate that the emotional aspect of the relationship is not satisfactory. Treatment can involve various strategies according to each case and may include metabolic, hormonal, emotional, and relationship treatments.
