It's time to focus on skin and body
With less than 20 days until the start of winter, temperatures are already dropping, and the effects of the cold are beginning to be felt. Among them, dry skin. During this period, it is common to observe the 'Russian' legs, as some call them, certain areas of the face becoming more cracked, and drier hands.
According to dermatologist and member of [CONFIRMAR], Dr. Irene Baldi, we enter a period when the weather is milder, and we tend to drink less liquid and consume more calories, which also impacts the skin beyond the climate directly. "It is very important to remain attentive to maintaining a balanced diet and to invest even more in hydrating our body and skin," explains the dermatologist.
Dr. Irene offers some tips that make a big difference in daily life, including avoiding hot showers. "We know that the cold calls for a warm and cozy shower, but this becomes a villain for the skin," she states. "Try using the shower in summer mode, not winter mode," she says. "Among the tips, using moisturizer daily, always after bathing, makes all the difference, and if you can add bath oils to your routine, it greatly helps with hydration and skin radiance," she explains. Additionally, sunscreen should be used as usual, even on cloudy days. "People are under the illusion that radiation is lower in winter because sunlight is weaker, but no, UVA and UVB rays remain intense, and we also have artificial lights," highlights Irene.
Treatments
During this time of year, dermatology offices tend to be busier due to the milder weather for recovery from treatments. "Procedures like peeling and CO2 laser, which cause skin peeling for renewal and rejuvenation; Black Peel to illuminate, even out, and lighten spots for reducing blemishes, scars, in addition to special protocols where various types of lasers can be combined with Drug Delivery, making a combo of procedures ideal for winter," says the doctor. "Patients prefer to treat their skin during this period, but there is also a lot of demand for body treatments already looking ahead to next summer," she adds.
