Dentist Marlei Bonella explains that people with the HIV virus need to maintain rigorous oral hygiene due to the risk of infections. "Regular dental care and check-ups are necessary to maintain oral health.
"Since these patients have a disease characterized by immunodeficiency, they often have a compromised immune system, meaning the patient is more predisposed to gum inflammation, canker sores, and herpes," explains Marlei.
The dentist clarifies that laser treatment is highly recommended in these cases, acting as an anti-inflammatory, speeding up the healing of lesions and wounds, providing better comfort for patients.
