Winter is the season when there is a high demand for dermatological treatments that give radiance to the skin and for giving a makeover to the body, promoting the desired effect. “This period is great for undergoing laser treatments, peels, acid applications, fillers, and people invest more in these procedures,” says dermatologist and member of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology (SBD), Irene Baldi.
The spots that appear after summer, such as melasma, are treated during this time with effective results due to the milder sunlight, which facilitates treatment and recovery. “Skin peeling is safer during this period, especially since it’s not a beach season, so the spots caused on the skin during summer, for example, can recover better, and those on vacation take the opportunity to take care of themselves in this regard,” explains the doctor. Irene emphasizes the importance of continuing to use sunscreen even in winter.
Among injectable procedures, botulinum toxins reduce expression lines, treat skin laxity, improve its texture, and biostimulators stimulate collagen production and combat aging. Lasers are also a popular procedure. “In addition to treating spots, there are new products on the market that address hair loss, enlarged pores, scars, and skin texture,” says Irene.
For the body, the dermatologist notes that there is also demand for those who want to be in shape for summer, and radiofrequency, cryolipolysis, mesotherapy, Emptiers, and lymphatic drainage are highly sought after during this period. “They reduce unwanted fat and stand out for improving body contour,” she points out.
