Pulmonologist and Sleep Medicine specialist Jessica Polese had her work approved in 'Revista Clinics', a renowned publication in the scientific community. Her study originates from her doctoral research on the sequelae of Covid, as well as research on a recent nomenclature that recognizes various symptoms and diseases related to Covid, called Chronic Covid, in which patients who are hospitalized in severe condition and who used supplemental oxygen are left with sequelae after the illness.
“The assessment after discharge of patients who had severe Covid-19 shows that 30 days after discharge, they still had many symptoms, as well as alterations in pulmonary function and diffusion, which are data from respiratory parameters,” explains Jessica.
Shortness of breath and fatigue often last for months. “Difficulty breathing among post-Covid patients is common, and that’s why it’s so important to evaluate the recovery of each person to indicate the best treatment, such as physiotherapy aimed at rehabilitating the lungs, among others,” emphasizes the doctor.
