Several studies indicate the possible sequelae that Covid-19 can leave on the heart, kidneys, intestines, vascular system, and even the brain. But did you know that the disease can also leave sequelae on the skin and hair?
Although it is not possible to say whether they are temporary or permanent, dermatologist and member of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology Karina Mazzini says that we need to always be alert to any "little different thing" that appears on our skin. Some patients with Covid-19 have presented certain manifestations that are worth mentioning.
1) The search for treatment for hair loss has increased significantly since mid-last year, due to Covid-19. Patients report that during showers, while brushing, or on the floor of their homes, the amount of loose hair has increased significantly. 2) Urticaria lesions have been diagnosed in patients with Covid-19 in Brazil and in several countries. It is a type of skin irritation that is red, swollen, and itchy. 3) As with many viral diseases, including dengue, many patients with Covid-19 have also reported the presence of disseminated micro-papules, the known exanthems.
