Check out five reasons to schedule surgery
The cold has arrived, and this year we can consider it atypical, as temperatures are indeed lower, especially for those from Espírito Santo who are used to milder winters. During this period, the demand for plastic surgery increases, as detailed by plastic surgeon Humberto Pinto. “We have patients who plan surgery six months in advance to operate in winter. This period is perfect for recovery, and for those seeking a renewed appearance and body for summer, this time is propitious,” says the doctor. According to the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery (SBCP), procedures increase by about 50% during this period. “The demand is precisely because it is less hot, and the patient does not have the discomfort of feeling hot during recovery,” says the surgeon.
Below, Dr. Humberto lists five reasons that lead to an increase in the demand for plastic surgeries in winter.
1 – Climate - The increased demand is due to the fact that it is less hot, and recovery is better, resulting in less discomfort for the patient.
2 - Healing - Recovery is better because the sun is milder; after all, it is prohibited to expose the scar to sunlight.
3 - Use of accessories, such as girdles - Some surgeries require the use of girdles, and in colder months, it is much better than in January, for example.
4 – Summer - The season when everyone wants to be in shape in the country becomes one of the reasons for plastic surgery. Those who want to prepare should have surgery by September at the latest.
5 – Discretion - Many patients who undergo plastic surgery, such as silicone implants, liposuction, or abdominoplasty, want to hide the changes in their bodies until they are 100%, and wearing jackets and more covered clothing helps with discretion in winter.
