With a lighter daily routine and fewer commitments, activities that have always served as hobbies have taken up more space in many people's schedules. Professionals who work in other fields but have a passion for gastronomy have decided to use their available time to 'venture' even more into the kitchen. As a result, they found a way to relieve stress and even lighten the atmosphere with new experiences.

The jewelry designer Karla Bautz has always loved cooking, but now this activity has become part of her routine and has also become a tool for interaction with people during this period. "I started posting the recipes I was making, and with that, some friends began to ask me to try making them at home during social isolation, and thus, the requests to share the recipes kept increasing," she says.

She prefers more homemade foods – such as homemade bread, onion cookies, cornbread, mocotó broth, and pot roast. "My mother is from Minas Gerais and cooks very well. So, I learned to cook from a young age. Today, this activity is my hobby. I really enjoy gathering friends and preparing some dishes for them. It’s my therapy," she states.

Besides being relaxing for these people, some types of food can be quite enjoyable, both to prepare and to taste. This is the case with sweets, which is the preference of lawyer Fernanda Ronchi. Since the quarantine began, she has been putting some recipes into practice and is increasingly enjoying and embracing this activity.

"Since I was a child, I always had the encouragement of my grandmothers in the kitchen. But my strong suit has always been sweets. I prefer cakes and desserts. And, since I have the privilege of working from home during the pandemic, I have some free time to test out recipes. In my case, cooking has the power to relax and also take my focus off the stress that the disease and isolation cause," says the lawyer, who became popular for preparing a Tiramisù and declares that her biggest challenge was getting the Crème Brûlée right.

Businesswoman Amanda Vieira from BOX has also become a fan of cooking during these quarantine days. Besides the pleasure of investing her knowledge in this area, she has also enjoyed learning new dishes and has already noticed the benefits of this new habit. "When I’m doing something in the kitchen, I concentrate and turn off my mind from daily worries. I love preparing pasta and risottos, but I also try to make healthy options since I have gluten and lactose intolerance. I’ve also realized that it’s possible to save money and better control expenses by preparing meals at home," she comments.

Her inspiration to cook has always been her mother, and now, with more time at home, she has been putting her learnings into practice. "Since I was a child, I played at cooking, and my mother has always been an excellent cook. So, she is my total inspiration," recalls the businesswoman, who is most successful in the kitchen with her risottos.
