One of the items on many couples' lists is the ring. The jewelry maintains some traditional characteristics but also undergoes some innovations. An example, pointed out by designer and entrepreneur Karla Bautz, is the personalization in various forms. “Most people choose to make the ring as exclusive as possible. The modern couple today seeks a personalized piece of jewelry that feels unique to them. Depending on the profile and originality, the power of personalization is impressive,” she comments.

Among the most basic possibilities offered are: inserting a special image, a name, a phrase, or even a word on the ring. “It becomes so personal that it is even feasible to print it with a font chosen by the couple. Making external engravings through a high or low relief design is also very common. There is also the option for the jewelry to be designed in the presence of the clients, by appointment,” she shares.

The engraving of the name should be done in reverse – the woman's name on the husband's ring and vice versa – or it can also be done with the couple's name on both rings. The most common date to be engraved is the wedding date. However, there are other options as well, such as: the day they met, the dating anniversary, or the engagement date. It is also possible to insert a symbol between the name and the date, which can be a heart, infinity, or another symbol of the couple's preference.

“All suggestions can serve as inspiration when choosing, but it is essential that the couple adapts the trends to their own taste. It is of no use to acquire a pair that is too modern if it does not please the wearers. However, it is increasingly common for couples to change rings frequently, following trends,” she reminds.

In addition to making the jewelry even more personalized and helping those who forget all the commemorative dates, engraving the rings is also a great way to identify the jewelry in case of loss. “There are countless cases of people who found rings and tried to locate their owners by posting about the jewelry on social media and the location where the ring was found. What is engraved inside it is what can prove who the ring belongs to,” she advises.
