Marriage is always a significant moment for the couple, and one of the choices that lasts throughout their lives is the rings, which are seen as a symbol of union. In Brazil, 18-carat gold is undoubtedly the most used metal for making wedding and engagement rings. However, there is no rule stating that the rings must necessarily be made of yellow gold. It is more of a tradition than a rule. Therefore, it is only fair that they are made of a noble material.
According to entrepreneur and expert on the subject, Karla Bautz from Bautz Alianças, the tip is to look for the color that best matches the couple, since the jewelry will be worn daily. “Yellow gold remains the most famous option among couples in Brazil, who tend to be more classic. But recently, white gold has also gained prominence among couples who love a classic touch, but always with a modern reference, and it can also be mixed with stones,” she suggests.
The expert also comments that rose gold is among the favorites at the time of choice. “It is a new trend that has emerged and is here to stay. It caters especially to a profile of more modern couples, who can still personalize the jewelry with some very personal touches. Additionally, since it is still a novelty compared to other gold colors, it is recommended for those who want a special and unique piece of jewelry,” she comments.
A new trend in the market, aimed at bringing more color to the pieces, is to pigment the details of the rings. “It’s a trend that makes the rings more personalized and even more representative of the couple. Moreover, making the jewelry unique helps in some situations, such as for those who forget all the commemorative dates and also in cases of loss of the jewelry, where it is necessary to confirm if it is the right ring,” she exemplifies.
Colors for the rings:- Yellow gold: symbolically, the golden color represents nobility, prestige, prosperity, fertility, and light. These symbolisms are intrinsically related to the preciousness of gold. After all, this malleable metal, which draws attention for the beauty of its color and shine, is also quite rare, which makes it extremely valuable. Among the shades, it is perhaps the most classic and appreciated for more traditional weddings or by couples who like to invest in timeless pieces.
- Rose gold: its alloy is composed of parts of silver and copper; when a larger amount of copper is added, the color of the gold becomes more pinkish. Its romantic and neutral tone is highly sought after by women who like to escape the traditional.
- White gold: contains other white metals in its alloy. The shiny aspects and silver tone are achieved through a process called "rhodium plating," which gives it a clear, uniform, and shiny color. The jewelry matches all skin tones and is highly sought after to highlight rings that feature diamonds or colored gemstones.
- Black rhodium: rhodium is a chemical element that belongs to the platinum group; it is very resistant and shiny, making it highly valued, commonly used in white gold pieces. Black rhodium, on the other hand, has the addition of a shiny black dye, also known as dark graphite, ensuring a special shine. The black rhodium plating has been gaining more and more prominence in the fashion world, precisely for giving dark jewelry a unique and refined shine.
