During the pandemic, social media created a space for communication, work, and leisure, and even for a distorted view of one's own reality, with an incessant search for beauty through the use of filters on Instagram.
“People found a 'filtered' version of themselves on social media, as if it were necessary to look this way all the time,” says emotional infrastructure specialist therapist Renata Costanzo.
Through social media filters, there is a trend of apparent perfection, creating the situation where it is no longer possible to have one's own face or body as they are.
“It is important to pay attention to self-care, to seek to understand the needs that your body and mind are asking of you. Is adopting and following manufactured standards healthy? What is bothering me? One thing is care, another is excess. A person who cannot see the beauty in themselves, as they really are, needs to seek solutions within themselves, not outside in artificial standards. Real life has no filter, and it is truly beautiful as it is,” reflects Renata.
