Happiness and well-being are increasingly desired goals for people. Even amidst the hustle and bustle of the modern, technological, and connected world, the pursuit of a healthier lifestyle and moments of connection with oneself has captured the attention of a significant part of society. This is the so-called health life, which has come to stay and tends to be a constantly rising trend. But what is happiness and what is its relationship with well-being? According to scientists and thinkers, happiness is something that is not found, but built. It seems complicated, but it only involves effort and constant movements. It’s like riding a bicycle; you need to develop the skill and practice it frequently. And well-being? It is the result of making happiness a daily decision. Because this brings immense benefits to health. "To exemplify, if we divide happiness into five elements, namely physical, emotional, intellectual, relational, and spiritual well-being, it is possible to observe that it is all about health. Because when worked on this way, happiness strengthens the immune system, reducing the recurrence of diseases and allowing for faster recovery when they appear," commented Juliany Pelissari, a specialist in People Management and owner of Buddha Spa Vitória. This pursuit of developing the practice of happiness also spreads and benefits other fields, beyond the personal. According to research published by Harvard Business Review, happy people are more productive. They are, on average, 31% more productive. Quality of life also impacts creativity. A happy worker is three times more creative. The survey also reveals that companies that prioritize employee well-being reduce turnover rates by 55% and burnout rates, the syndrome of professional exhaustion, by 125%. "In other words, don't blame your lack of happiness on a lack of time or an excess of work. After all, if you allow yourself moments of relaxation, reflection, self-care, exchanges with friends, with family, and spiritual pursuits, work will be a good and more profitable part of your daily life," emphasized Juliany. Another point to consider, according to the specialist, is: what really makes us happy? And here it is necessary to escape the traps of social media, where most people, every day, seem to be engaged in flaunting happiness. "You can't believe that happiness is everything that others post, like, or share. Nothing is as harmful as comparing our lives to others'. If social media had to be punished for spreading fake news, all of them, without exception, would have to suspend their activities for lying or distorting the truth. Therefore, it is worth emphasizing that it is not possible to be happy all the time, and that is not what we are proposing. Every now and then, it is natural to feel unhappy, and this is contributory to leading us to reflect on the causes of problems and on alternatives for us to be happy," advised Juliany. And it is with the aim of providing environments for this reflection that refuges in the midst of cities are increasingly growing. Whether in green spaces, such as squares and parks, in meditation classes, in leisure centers, or in true urban spas, with massages, relaxation, therapies to calm, care for health, and help in inner reconnection, it is up to each one to seek what provides them with this comfort and deceleration. Life needs happiness, and happiness needs life.
