Game Master DEVS will bring together developers and board game enthusiasts at Masterplace Mall

Developers, curious individuals, and board game lovers have a meeting scheduled on March 16 at Game Master DEVS. It will take place from 9 AM to 7 PM at Masterplace Mall. Currently in its 45th edition, Game Master is hosting an event dedicated for the first time to new games and invites award-winning board game developers and designers to share their creations.

The event will feature designers André Negrão, developer of “O Bom do Videogame,” which will be launched worldwide by Days of Wonder; and Jefferson Pimentel, who along with Bruno Sathler, is behind “For the Quest” and “Herança de Cthulhu.” “They are responsible for creating the game ‘For The Quest,’ which broke the record for the highest crowdfunding amount for this genre in Brazil. This shows the potential that Espírito Santo has in this field,” emphasizes Lucas de Tassis, one of the organizers of Game Master DEVS.

The event aims to present to the public board games that are different from those played in the past. “The invitation is for everyone to come. Our expectation is to receive everyone from children to adults. It’s for the whole family,” he says.

“Our idea is to encourage people to take their ideas out of the drawer and put them on the table for others to test, receive feedback from players, and exchange ideas with more experienced people in the game development area,” summarizes Luiz Fernando Tom.

Game Master DEVS will feature games in development, and Tom mentions his production, the first board game after having developed digital games. The game is called “Projeto:A.R.E.N.A” and places players in a combat arena inspired by computer shooting games from the 1990s and 2000s.

Lucas de Tassis is also developing a game provisionally named “Nova Gênesis.” “It is a game designed for 2 players and has as its theme a story of territory conquest after the 3rd world war, using a deck of cards and dice rolling, in addition to, of course, each player’s strategy,” he explains.

For the organizers of Game Master, the project's differential is inviting people to discover new games. “Games like War and Monopoly, for example, only remain popular until a person learns about new existing games. Those who enjoy board games and know other proposals realize that these games are outdated and that luck controls the game,” believes Lucas de Tassis.

“Games have changed considerably in recent years, and there are now games with various mechanics, themes, and player varieties. Some are competitive, others cooperative where everyone must act together to defeat the board, and others still use apps to assist in the storyline,” he shares.
