The gallery from Espírito Santo will be at booth D11 from September 13 to 17 at Marina da Glória, Rio de Janeiro, where one of the largest art events in the country takes place
Matias Brotas contemporary art participates in the 13th edition of ArtRio 2023, from September 13 to 17 at Marina da Glória, Rio de Janeiro, presenting a curated selection of works by prominent artists in the national and international contemporary art scene in two projects: one featuring new works produced for the gallery by artists such as Rubiane Maia, José Bechara, Arthur Arnold, Mai-Britt Wolthers, Cabelo, Thainan Castro, Adrianna EU; and the project Séries MBac|Clube do Colecionador, created 10 years ago, which plays an important role in fostering and encouraging contemporary art collecting. Always seeking to connect collectors with art and artists, the gallery hosts a special parallel programming and promotes launches, guided tours with artists and curators at its booth, as well as visits to studios of artists it represents, visits to exhibitions, and much more. On Wednesday, September 13, at 6 PM, Matias Brotas will launch at the fair the ‘Séries MBac - Clube do Colecionador’, featuring series created by artists with significant production in the national and international contemporary art scene, with works in unique supports and research, reinforcing the gallery's commitment to strengthening art collecting. Among them are names like Adrianna EU, Hugo Mendes, Fernando Velazquez, Claudio Alvarez, José Spaniol, Ivan Grilo, Raul Morão, Matias Mesquita, Ana Costa e Silva, among others. On Thursday, September 14, early in the morning at 10:30 AM, the gallery will take a group of collectors to visit the installation "Costura íntima" by artist Adrianna EU, which will occupy one of the floors of Espaço Fábrica, an old deactivated clothing factory located in the Penha neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, which has been transforming into a cultural space for about a year. The work, composed of over a million meters of tangled red thread, is built in dialogue with the 200 sewing machines that still occupy the floor originally designated for this function in the production line. In deep dialogue with the architecture and the past of this space, this artistic intervention speaks of an invisible stitching to the eyes, a stitching of affections, which is part of the poetic environment created by Adrianna EU in her works.
Also on Thursday, at 5 PM, the gallery will host artist Thainan Castro for a guided tour at his booth at the fair. The meticulousness of the artist's line comes from the process of recovering memory and readapting materials that led the artist to seek new ways to explore drawing and painting, bringing subtleties to his authorial work.

With over 30 years of artistic trajectory, Cabelo has numerous solo and group exhibitions in Brazil and abroad in his portfolio. He considers his drawings, paintings, sculptures, songs, performances, videos, and installations as manifestations of poetry. His works are part of important collections such as Gilberto Chateaubriand and Joaquim Paiva Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro - MAM RJ, Instituto Pipa, Banco Itaú S.A collection, João Sattamini - Museum of Contemporary Art of Niterói.
And on Saturday, September 16, at 10:30 AM, Matias Brotas invited artist Rubiane Maia for a live on the gallery's Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/matiasbrotasarte/) where she will talk about her new version of ‘Speirein’, as well as other works, creative processes, and national and international exhibitions. At Matias Brotas' booth, she presents an unprecedented photographic image of her performance SPEIREIN held in London in 2021. The artist was invited to the 35th São Paulo Biennial – Coreografias do impossível, curated by Diane Lima, Grada Kilomba, Hélio Menezes, and Manuel Borja-Villel, which opened on September 6 at Ibirapuera Park, and to the group exhibition ‘Terra Abrecaminhos” curated by Daniela Labra, with assistant curatorship by Hilda de Paulo and curatorial assistance by Maíra Freitas, at Sesc Pompéia, São Paulo, starting September 19.
