The trip organized by Matias Brotas contemporary art gallery takes place from June 23 to 25, featuring a guided visit to Inhotim in Brumadinho, with mediation by international critic and curator Agnaldo Farias
As part of the 2023 Course Cycle project, Matias Brotas contemporary art gallery is conducting an immersion course at the Inhotim Institute in Minas Gerais, which houses the most important collection of contemporary art in Brazil, with mediation by international critic and curator Agnaldo Farias. The trip will take place from June 23 to 25, with a total of 12 hours of activities.
Inhotim features around 700 works by over 60 artists from nearly 40 countries, displayed outdoors and in galleries amidst a Botanical Garden with more than 4,300 rare botanical species from all continents. Through direct experience with the collection's works, the course will address the diversity of contemporary artistic production, the tensions between works, exhibition spaces, and institutions, the relationships between art, city, landscape, and architecture, and works that do not fit traditional definitions.

According to curator and critic Agnaldo Farias, experiences like this go beyond contact with different artistic supports and their artists, refining the gaze on art and expanding knowledge. "These are essential experiences. Direct contact with the work and in completely different spaces like Inhotim, which is surrounded by beautiful flora, by its Botanical Garden, with works you won’t find anywhere else in Brazil. This way, you have contact with what is most original and innovative in contemporary artistic production. Therefore, it is an unmissable program," he emphasizes.
The immersion trip has limited spots, and interested individuals can still participate. Just contact the gallery at (27) 33276966 / 998372920. The group from Espírito Santo will depart from Vitória on June 23 (Friday) heading to Belo Horizonte. On June 24 and 25 (Saturday and Sunday), they will spend the day at Inhotim, returning on Sunday night.
