The project takes public school students on educational visits to the Park, a partnership between AMARV - Associação dos Moradores e Amigos da Reserva Vitória, Shopping Vitória, Matias Brotas contemporary art, and the City Hall of Vitória
This Wednesday, the 14th, at 8:30 AM, the launch ceremony of the 'Reserva Arte' Project will take place, with the presence of authorities and a visit to the Parque Cultural Reserva Vitória, a public space located behind Shopping Vitória. Aiming to provide moments of contact with art and nature for school audiences, the Parque Cultural Reserva Vitória is open for scheduling educational visits for the 'Reserva Arte' project. Students from public schools in Vitória, with the mediation of educators, can experience artistic activities in the space through creative and pedagogical activities. The project aims to stimulate the debate on contemporary art with educational proposals that are playful, practical, and creative, bringing children and adolescents closer to the artistic processes involved in art today, as well as reinforcing the relationship between the park, art, and the city, which ranges from understanding public spaces as cultural spaces to notions of heritage (material and immaterial) and citizenship.
The project is developed by Shopping Vitória in partnership with the Matias Brotas Arte Contemporânea gallery – MBac, responsible for the curation of the works, and has the support of the City Hall of Vitória and the Associação dos Moradores e Amigos da Reserva Vitória – AMARV. "Supporting and bringing this project to life means expanding the possibilities for the public education network to guarantee access to valuable experiences and a unique opportunity to engage with art," highlights Mariana Buaiz, vice president of Shopping Vitória.
Lara Brotas, executive director of Matias Brotas, one of the project's idealizers and responsible for the curation of the works in the park, states that it is a privilege to be part of another project that involves 'Art, Culture, and Education'. "The 'Reserva Arte' aims to create an atmosphere of experience with the urban space. The park will receive scheduled visits and aims to become a living organism with actions that expand the dialogue with society and the relationships of exchange and belonging," explains Lara.
"Our goal is to present the city with a possibility of pedagogical experience in spaces like the Parque Cultural. We hope this will become part of the school visit itinerary for the various possibilities involving art, education, culture, and the environment. We believe that education in these spaces enhances and complements formal education in the school environment," affirms the project coordinator, Fernanda Zardo.
The Park and Scheduling Visits
The Parque Cultural Reserva Vitória, located behind Shopping Vitória, was inaugurated in 2021 and is an open space for the public that proposes exchange and experiences with art. Seven contemporary art pieces by current artists make up the park and bring visitors closer to the aesthetic experience and the artistic process of the artists, including:
- Porta para um depois - Carioca artist Adrianna Eu
- Karma - Carioca artist Antonio Bokel
- Vazante - Gaucho artist José Spaniol
- Experimento Nido - Capixaba artist Sandro Novaes;
- Uma carta de amor direto no coração - Carioca artist Thainan Castro
- Liber - Capixaba artist Vilar
- Randômica - Carioca artist José Bechara
Fernanda Zardo, project coordinator, further explains that these exhibited works encourage visitors to explore the space and its surrounding landscape, providing doors, windows, frames, and passages for different ways of looking at the city and experiencing art in its spaces. "They place a public park like the Parque Cultural Reserva Vitória in dialogue with art and the city, creating an atmosphere of experience with the space, where the public connects with art and nature, expanding the possibilities of belonging to the city. This reality is also a reason for the connection between ideas and people, in order to encourage spaces like the park to become democratic places of socialization," she emphasizes.
The educational visits of the 'Reserva Arte' project are free and must be scheduled in advance, taking place from Tuesday to Friday, in the morning or afternoon, for groups from Early Childhood Education, Elementary, and High School. The project will run until December 2023, and scheduling can be done by calling (27) 3145-5929 | 99828-9576. It is worth noting that in addition to scheduled visits, the park is open to the public, who can visit it any day and time.
The Associação dos Moradores e Amigos da Reserva Vitória - AMARV provides snacks for the children during visits, and Shopping Vitória ensures the best possible access to restrooms and drinking fountains in the indoor areas during visitation. A team of firefighters from Shopping Vitória conducts the reception of the groups and emergency safety procedures.
