On Monday, the 8th, entry was allowed for vaccinated Brazilians with proof of a negative COVID test.

The United States opened its borders on Monday, November 8, for the entry of some foreigners, including those from Brazil. Among the rules for entering the country are: being fully vaccinated, meaning having received both doses or a single dose of the vaccine, and presenting a negative COVID-19 test taken up to 3 days before boarding.

And the opening of the borders is already directly reflecting in Capixaba laboratories. According to the general coordinator of Teste Covid Capixaba, Yamê Gregório Zanelato, which conducts various COVID tests in a drive-thru system at the old Vitória Airport, the demand for tests has already increased by almost 40%, and the expectation is much higher, as this is the first week of relaxed entry rules into the American country.

"The government announced this decision at the end of September, which took effect on Monday, and because of that, many people have already secured their flights and anticipated their trips. We have received many calls from people looking for information about travel tests and scheduling. Not to mention the report in English, which is required by many countries. We have already heard of a Capixaba being barred at the airport for not presenting the report in English. People need to pay attention to the requirements of the destination country to bring all the necessary documentation and not miss their trip," she explains.

The Technical Responsible for Teste Covid Capixaba, biomedical Amanda Percilia M. Pomuchenq, also makes another alert. "Check what type of negative test is required for the destination country. In addition to the RT-PCR test, many countries accept the Antigen Test, which provides results in 30 minutes and is also effective and more affordable. It is also done through samples of secretion collected from the nose with a swab and is capable of detecting the viral nucleocapsid protein of SARS-CoV-2. There are two results: positive, which means active viral infection, and negative, where the presence of the virus in the body is not detected," she explains.

Flight sales increase by over 300%

The opening of American borders has also reflected in flight sales. Brazilian airlines recorded an increase of over 300% in ticket sales to the American territory.

Latam reported a 350% increase in demand for flights from Brazil to the United States in the first 24 hours after the news of the reopening of American borders. Azul experienced a 380% increase in demand for flights to the North American country. Gol reported a 330% increase in ticket sales to the USA within 24 hours. (Source: CNN Brasil)
